As you prepare for your child's portrait session . . . .

* Just Relax! . . This may sound simple, but your attitude will carry over into your
child's as you prepare for your appointment day.  The Studio 22 staff strives to make
your child's appointment a fun and memorable one . . . .for you and AND your little one!
If you've never experienced our children's sessions you are in for a treat!

* Things to avoid . . do NOT coach your child about smiling . . . . we want your child to
smile as a reaction to what's happening.  It's our job to capture their best expression, whether
it be a smile, a grin, or a pout . . . .we love them all!!!

* Clothing . . this is an extremely important factor in your portrait session.  The right clothing
can enhance the innocence of your child . . . .the wrong clothing will make you AND your
child cry when you see the results!!!!
            * Keep their outfits simple.
            * Avoid complicated parts and attachments . . . . kids tend to move around a lot and
unnecessary parts will no doubt get out of place easily.
            * Stay away from wild patterns and distracting designs.  We want your child to be
THE MOST IMPORTANT element in the photograph.  Clothing should always be
secondary, your child should be primary.
            * Light colored tops go with light colored bottoms; dark colored tops go with dark
colored bottoms.  Mixing the two will make too much contrast and will distract the
eye from your child's beautiful - - - or spirited face!
            * Barefoot is Beautiful!  Children's tiny feet are adorable . . . .no matter what the outfit.
If you think you don't have just the right shoes for the outfit - - don't despair!
               Barefoot always works for kids.
            * Hats - - - a nice touch to some sessions, but remember, leave it off and we'll add it
in at the end to avoid bad hair or bad disposition with your child.
            * Many times we can do 2 outfits with your child, but most kids get bored with changing
4 or 5 times.  For those kids who just flat don't like to change clothes, we suggest
you put on their outfit at home (even add a bib for travel).  The extra "outfit" might
               be their birthday suit!
            * If you're still just not quite sure what to do, bring along 3 or 4 selections and we can
help with the final choices of what will work best.

* What to expect . . Arrive 5 minutes early to let you child get settled and for us to help
you with final clothing choices if needed.  Depending on the child and what our game plan is,
we may start photographs very quickly upon your arrival.  Some of the best soft and wide-
eyed expressions can be made in the first few minutes of the session - - - before the child
even realizes it!  It's great to arrive early, but since we often have another appointment prior
to your child's, don't arrive TOO early.  We don't want to use up your child's patience before
    the session even begins.

* During the session . . We have a spacious camera room and are glad to have you along
to add to the comfort of your child.  Please avoid bringing extra people and siblings along that
are not part of the session however, this only serves to distract your child from the purpose of
their visit.  Once your child is at ease we may even ask you to "go get us a drink of water" just
so we can further get to know your child.
Please avoid speaking to your child during the session.  As a parent, the sound of your voice
is very powerful and just when we need her to look one place you can inadvertently direct her
to another just be speaking aloud.  Occasionally we can use this to an advantage . . . but mostly
    . . . .shhhhhhhh.
Watch out for bribes!  Sometimes we can use bribes to our advantage in a child's session, but
please don't offer this to your child before or during the session unless we bring it up.  We have
a few small bribes that work well at the right time.

We look forward to getting to know your child very soon!
